How much can I overclock my GPU and CPU?

Hello, so I recently built a new PC and now that I have settled into it, I would like to do some overclocking. I consider myself very knowledgeable about computers, but if there is one thing I don't know anything about, its overclocking. i know a little bit about it, that it is in the BIOS, that you need a cold CPU and GPU to do it, and that it can heavily increase performance but shorten the lifespan of parts. I just wan't to know what would be a safe overclock for my CPU and GPU with my current specs. Here are all my specs: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/CaptainCrape/saved/LMGzK8
I only have a stock Intel cooler for the I7 920 and the GPU has no eternal coolers on it either. What would be a safe but heavily performance enhancing overclock I could do and how can I do it? Thanks!

you need a new cpu cooler like a noctua or at least a 212evo
when you get that. you can prolly expect to overclock to about 4.0 ghz with your cpu.

YOUR STOCK COOLER DOES NOT SUFFICE FOR OVERCLOCKING AT ALL!! when it comes to you cpu.

as for you graphics card you can overclock it alittle but as to how far i do not know and you will not need any additional cooling( just a few proper fans in your case two in one out to create positive pressure and your) unless you are thinking about water cooling your system but that may be a little more than you bargained for.

I have 3 fans installed in my system. Could I do any overclocking at all on the CPU? And how do I overclock the GPU?

You might be able to get a small OC on the stock cooler, but I really wouldn't recommend it at all, since the Intel stock cooler is only really good for running at stock speeds, you'd run the risk of burning something. If you do decide to attempt to OC on the stock cooler, check your temps!
