Where to go from here? Possible GPU or CPU/MOBO/RAM upgrade?

Hey all,

I currently just finished installing a fully built computer into a new case and changing the power supply (stressful, but not nearly as challenging as I thought). I now want to change out the rest of my "stock" parts to new parts. I already have a pretty solid OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W Modular High Performance Power Supply and a MSI 7870 and plan on upgrading to a 2tb WD black, as well as a samsung EVO 120gb SSD. SO I guess my real question is should I go MOBO/CPU/RAM first or go GPU first? My budget is around 300 dollars or so and I'm wondering whats going to give me the best performance for cost related to MOBO/CPU. Thanks guys!

Manufacturer ASUSTeK Computer INC.
Model CM1730/CM1830
Total amount of system memory 8.00 GB RAM
System type 64-bit operating system
Number of processor cores 6
AMD Phenom II X6 1065T

Well Fx based cpus are a bit faster.
The Essentio CM1730 Motherboard is using DD2 memory.

So if you opted for a Fx cpu and DDR 3 memory you would see an improvement in system speed, depending on how many cores 4,6, or 8 on an FX cpu you also opt for.

Don`t forget that FX cpu`s are also good overclocking cpu`s, in most cases you can squeeze about an extra 800Mhz in core frequency of the stock cpu setting, so that gives it a bit more punch also. A bonus if you like.

Plus the new motherboard will come with a better chip set.

As for your graphics card, I would put it last.

I mean a 7870 is not that bad it still runs most games ect at a respectable frame rate, with a bit of in game graphics options, settings, FX being tweaked, or lowered slightly.

A new board, Cpu and DDR 3 memory would give better results.

A new Gpu later on, and an SSD to speed up windows boot times and your most frequently used software, or games you run.

But I would not opt for a 120Gb drive.

I would go for a 256Gb sized SSD drive.

Because after you format a 120Gb drive and put windows OS on it there is not much left to install a vast amount of other software or programs you may have and use and after installing them also to the SSD drive.

120Gb will soon be used up, even games are getting bigger in size of Gb for the installation of them.

If you intend to just use the drives as an OS boot drive and nothing much more. then 120Gb is fine.

Since you likely have enough storage to manage a while, and can use the old drives for the time being.

Sell the old Mobo, Cpu, and memory off on E-bay, make some money back to put towards an SSD drive or funds for a new Graphics card.

Well it`s how i would plan it out if I had to be honest UnoDosTrace !
In fact the last system I built took about a month, or more to complete because of a lack in enough funds.
But I got there in the end Uno and am happy with the results.

And if I wanted to go Intel? How would I want to go about that and whats all the hype with the new skylake cpu's? I'm on about a 350$ budget with MOBO/CPU/RAM for this build.
