I recently bought new RAM 1x8 for my laptop and seated it in good, my screen had a delay, and then booted fine but then it restarted itself and also has vertical colored lines with a black screen showing when I try to boot with the ram

I ran memtest86 and it can't stay on for the testing because it restarts when it's testing the memory.

I noticed my computer ran very hot and the ram I had before it was 1.35v this is 1.5v

I can only try one slot as the other doesn't work anymore.

The RAM stick works it was tested before I bought it. The brand is PNY, My mobo shows on their site thhat my HP laptop can take it, I do not understand why this is happening please help.

Yes, the voltage often does make a difference. Return it, and get something that is absolutely compatible. 1.35v.

Does the voltage make a difference? Like I said before, I have one 4gb ram stick 1.35v this 8gb stick is 1.5v.

It showed up before in the system properties but then it restarts itself before I can do anything else or just boots to black screen
with verticals colored lines which makes me nervous.

Two BSODs with a error of: error not eual or less and power driver state failure. (the last one is fixed)
