How can my Cable Modem have WiFi but not Wired?

Hey there

This morning we had no internet. I reset my router/modem- what ever it is by powering it down and unplugging. It came back, and now WiFi is working but wired connection says, "no internet". This makes no sense- isn't all goes through the same cable wiring in to the world? How can it have WiFi without wired? I have several computers in the home and only one has wireless, so I need wired connection. My child is in distress without being able to play video games online- he was waiting for weekend... I have all green lights on the modem- what else can I tweak? Thank you.

I had a similar problem a while ago after a lightning storm.
Unplug the modem, let it stand for 30 seconds and plug it in again.
When the modem reinitializes all will likely be good.
When you call cable support, that is the first thing they will tell you to do.

Yeah, I've learned the hard way that anything about their boxes that a reset or power down and back up doesn't fix, you need to call them.

I had a minor problem a few weeks ago with my cable box. It actually took 4 calls before they got it fixed properly. Turned out that what their first 3 reps did was all wrong, but the 4th one knew what to do, but he had to un-do what the other 3 reps had done. So sometimes, you have to stay persistent to get problems resolved properly.
