I put 16gb RAM (2x8) in my new PC build however, in my bios it only says that 1 stick is in and that it only has 4gb of ram

I just built a new PC and when I check the bios it says that only 1 stick of ram is in, and that it only has 4gb of memory on it, it should be 8 for each stick. My motherboard is a asus sabertooth Z97 mark 2 and on the bios the working ram is in the DIMM_b2 slot.

I just checked in my computer properties and I have a 64bit Windows 8 Pro OS.

What's the actual model number of the DRAM? Many have picked up a set labeled 8GB thinking each stick is 8GB when it's actually a 2x4GB set of DRAM. Then check you have the latest BIOS, try the sticks in slots 1-3 from CPU. What CPU cooler, if a third party cooler may be too tight in a corner or side throwing off the MC so it doesn't fully 'see' the stick in the A Channel

That's A Ripjaws X DDR3 (F3) 1600 (12800) CL9 4GB stick, so looks like you have 2x4GB (8GB total). Try the sticks in slots 1-2 if it shows 8GB after that, then it may not be reading a channel, try loosening the CPU cooler then tighten down screw tight, if too tight in a corner or side you can loase a channel from the pins not having full contact

Ok, should I put them in A1 and A2? And to switch around my RAM it's ok to just unplug the PC and start moving it around?
