I currently own a desktop computer witch i bought at a stellar price used. Some days ago i impulsed and bought myself 2 GTX 680 4gb's.

My current problem is that my psu (a Corsair tx650w v1) only have 2x pci-e 6+2 pin's compared to the required 4x.. I know my psu is going to be on the limit in terms of wattage output and i know that it is pretty old, but i need to know if it is safe/worth it to use some molex to 6 pin adapters for a temporary solution? "I can't afford a decent psu at this time".

I only use one of the cards atm.

Solution
I wouldn't if I were you and I don't say that lightly. I tend to push PSU's a bit but I wouldn't go that far myself, I have run a pair of 170w cards on a similar PSU but I wouldn't try for a pair of 195w - 200w cards.

I see.., not even as a temporary even? I am now debating if i should sell one of them or get a new "future proof" psu that can be kept for future builds or something. But at that point i feel like the "budget" part is gone :/.

I might just end up buying the adapters just to test some low intesety gaming, and check how the sli scalses before making a decision.
