Quick question: do the 300 series cards still need an active dp adapter to support 3 way eyefinity? I'm buying a 390 and I already own a passive adapter and wanted to know if I need to buy an active one.

AFAIK, you never needed multi-stream adapters or MST-enabled displays for only three displays. You need those for four and up.

I'm running triple displays on an HD5770 using DVI+DP+HDMI.

Oh, ok then. I thought I read somewhere that you needed an active adapter to drive 3 displays in eyefinity (so I got a mini-dp to dvi active adapter for my 280x). I never even tried without the adapter before. Thanks
