Im planning on getting a MSI GeForce GTX 970 Twin Frozr 4GB GDDR5 for gaming, editing and watching high definition films... Mostly Gaming though.

My current Specs are:

MOBO: MSI 970A-G43
GPU: Sapphire Radeon R9 270x dual-x oc edition
CPU: AMD FX-6300 six-core processor \\ Currently running at 3.50ghz
OS: Windows 10
Ram: 2x4gb of Crucial Ballistix Ram

thats the main * any chance i need to know any special information before upgrading the GPU? Also, im not upgrading anything else just the gpu.. i want to stream and play games such as ARMA 3 and DayZ

Thanks in advance

1. make sure not to swear in your OP ;)

2. What PSU are you using? (just make sure it can properly handle the new GPU)

3. Be sure to un-install the AMD video drivers BEFORE un-installing the 270 - and if you have auto-updates for your AMD GPU enabled, disable them as the AMD drivers will auto re-install as soon as you un-install them ;)

You should check what pcie connectors your psu has. The R9 270x has, I believe, 2 x 6 pin connectors. You can get a GTX 970 with the same configuration but some models use an 8 pin. Power usage for the cards is similar with the GTX 970 being a bit more efficient but your psu should still be good quality with an expensive card. Uninstall your video card drivers, swap the cards, its quite straightforward, install drivers from Nvidia and you should be ok.
