Hi all,
I built a desktop computer over the summer (first time doing anything like it), and although I've been loving it so far I have noticed one irritating issue. Not knowing much about computers I don't know if a) I can fix it and b) I should be worried. I will try my best to describe it here, any help/input is GREATLY appreciated.

Basically, my computer doesn't seem to like going to sleep. It takes a while to go into sleep mode (10-20 seconds), and tends to wake itself up after a while. In addition, it gives me trouble if I interrupt it while it is going to sleep. (Eg by clicking the mouse- I've done this by accident after hitting the "sleep" button, and I think I caught it earlier while it was going to sleep automatically.)

If I interrupt things while the computer is going to sleep, it seems to get caught half-way; the fans continue running, but there is nothing on the display. If I shut it down with the power button on the case and then turn it back on same issue- the fans come on but I get nothing on the display. What I have to do every time is shut it down and turn off power in the back. After doing this
it boots up properly again, albeit a bit sluggishly.

So there it is; if any additionally information would help I will try my best to provide it. I would be extremely grateful for any help- other than this the computer is running fine, but this one issue is causing me a fair bit of stress.

Thanks very much,
Sam.

Solution
The need to reset the psu by turning it off may indicate the psu is faulty .

Computers do take time to sleep . 20 seconds sounds normal

For waking up by itself you will need to check in BIOS . There will be settings that wake your pc if there network events . Try disabling Wake on LAN and Wake on pci-e

Thanks very much, I'll try those things!
Is it possible to test the PSU? It hasn't given me any other issues (boot up, shut down, game play, etc.) It's also an EVGA Supernova 750W G2 80+ Gold, so for the price I would hope it's not faulty... If it is though there is a good warranty.

Also, in case it helps, here are my system specs: (Probably should have posted them in the first place)

FX-8320
SAPPHIRE R9 270X
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 Mobo
2x4 G GSkills Ripjaws
EVGA Supernova G2 750W 80+ Gold
Windows 7

Thanks again!
Sam.
