Yes 600 watts is plenty but it needs to be a good quality power supply not a cheap one. If you are going to use 2 video cards you'll need Z97 board and 750 watts. Do you plan to SLI later on?

He has a non-K i7 that does 4.0ghz all day. The suggested ASRock board is PERFECT at that price.

If you can afford the stretch, the Z97 board with the nicer audio and SLI is very worth the cost as the other guy mentioned too.

The board has all Intel stuff on it too like ethernet and SATA. You'll love it.

Too bad the Extreme 6 is too pricey, it has the m.2 PCIE 3.0 x4, perfect for those Samsung SM951 drives and such.

lol could also get a cheaper board sine not going sli and if unhappy with sound put a $20 sound card in it that would destroy the onboard sound of most motherboards but really the z97 if less that $20 difference is more future proof and offers the option for an unlocked chip later if wants to OC in the future.

thats a 115 DB SNR sound chip in there. with DTS connect. with 600ohms headphone chip.

a 20$ sound card will kill nothing thats a $75 sound card.

and you miss the M2 slot as well.

if you want true M2 at PCIe 3.0 , look away from Z97 , and get a Z170 ..

the Extreme 6 is not true .. they steal lanes from GPU.. and that is bad for GPU...

the Z170 M2 connects to the chipset PCIE 3.0 lanes and not CPU lanes ...

sadly the z97 is PCIE2.0 lanes ...

thats the reason.

OR you can get X99 and have it all.

With the caveat that theres no SLI its the only option in the world to get the full speed unless you use a card adapter.

actually it is worse than that ... any card you plug in PCIe 3.0 even if 1 lane , will make the GPU switch from 16x to 8x

there are tons of cards one can add ..

TV cards , SAT cards , USB 3.1 cards , Raid Cards , sound cards , Video capture cards , Wifi Cards , Lan cards , Blue tooth , ... Thunderbolt cards , display port cards , any new tech cards that will appear ..

the fact that the CPU has only 16 lanes is horrible , one lane missing the GPU will switch to 8 lanes , becuase they dont switch lane by lane or even 4X by 4X , they go down from 16 to 8 ...

thats why I never got for me less than 40 lanes CPU from the old times of SandyBridge .. the "X" chipset ALL the TIME for me.

and I am not talking about the OP , I am talking about you wanting Extreme 6 ...
