Hi, I like Overclocking my components, thus far I have only ever overclocked my cpu. I am considering Overclocking my gpu though aswell. What are the pros/cons? What kinds of performance increases will I see? And where do I get started?/how do I do it? Thanks! Also what program is good to use?

I have 2 EVGA GTX 970 SC
they are right on top of each other on a micro atx mobo inside a corsair air 240

Best thing: download EVGA Precision X and a benchmarking tool (i.e., Heaven, 3DMark...etc). Increase power limit to maximum value, assign custom fan curve/use aggressive preset....and start with a 50Mhz core increase and test for stability. Repeat this process with 10Mhz increments each time...any issues, go back to last stable clock (and take 5Mhz off it just for the heck of it). Also, check out some (much better written than my quick/sloppy post) overclocking guides. You'll see card specific ones (not that it really matters, but will give you a reference for what others are getting out of their cards).

Quick (and probably painless): download EVGA Precision X, set decent fan curve (not the "fans start at 60C" default EVGA uses with ACX cards)...add +100Mhz to your core clock and 300Mhz to memory. Hit apply and see if youre getting higher fps in games youre familiar with (Metro LL is my go to).
