Is there any significant difference in performance between 6600K and 6500(6600)?
I know about overclocking, but in my opinion these extra 2fps are not worth these extra $.

Solution
The value in the 6600K is really the overclocking, you can grab a better motherboard down the road and a better cooler and squeeze more frames out of your processor when it starts crawling in later games (this won't happen till like 2020 most likely), if you're thinking on upgrading or buying anything else and feel like the 6500 is really what you want, you should go for that instead.

My brother still happily games on his i5 2400 and isn't thinking of upgrading it anytime soon, so it's up to you to make that decision, spend a little more and possibly spend less in the future or spend less now and maybe upgrade to a whole new platform in the future.

Another scenario might be if you're running Crossfire or SLI configs on high end cards...

I have 2x gefore 470 (gift, i know about heating and noise) but 6500 should be enough, I think.
And in a year, or two, I'll buy new graphinc card (probably next gen of gf960, or something like that).
So it's not worth it, but everyone buys K CPUs :)

Admitedly, I've seen some people go for the K version because it's a K... But thankfully that's not all people. And yes for GTX 470s the 6500 should be more than enough for them, but as I said, if you're upgrading lets say, to two or three 980 Tis, you'll see the need for that K unlocked multiplier in some games, that was really the point of me mentioning them. Of course, if you're not, you should be fine with 6500.

If you're going to upgrade to the gtx 960, get the few edition. It's got a backplate and higher overclock along with the acx 2.0 cooling. Sometimes my fans don't even turn on because of the cooling.

Well i can confirm that the i5 2400 is showing signs of getting old, i just tried bf 1 beta and i have a i5 2400 with a gtx 1070 and i get around 60 fps on ultra with 42 resolution scale and sometimes it drops below 60. Also cpu intensive games like sc2 and HotS dont run well with this cpu im planning to get a i5 6600.
