Battlefield 4 using 3.8K of CPU memory and 8GB of RAM?

BF4 on my system uses 1240 / 1280MB on both my SLI GTX 570 GPU's and 90% of my 8GB RAM. Task manager says that BF4 is using 3.8 K (whatever this means) in the memory column.

8GB of ram seems quite excessive right? I had minimal applications running when I wrote down those stats. Anyone have any ideas as why BF4 eats so much resources??

When I played BF4, I had TeamSpeak, Chrome and BF4 open. It wasn't uncommon for my RAM usage to sit at 5+GB. As for VRAM again, it just does on higher settings. My 770 GTX used 1.7GB easily in BF4. There were tests done a year or two ago where BF4 can use just over 2GB of VRAM. It's a system intense game.

What OS are you using?

I'm not running enough applications to warrant the full 8GB to be used... It doesn't add up..

Task Manager
Image Name / Memory (Private Working Set)
bf4.exe / 3,800,000
Chrome.exe *32 / 130,000 K
Chrome.exe *32 / 100,000 K
Chrome.exe *32 / 90,000 K
Chrome.exe *32 / 70,000 K
Chrome.exe *32 / 70,000 K
Chrome.exe *32 / 65,000 K
Chrome.exe *32 / 65,000 K
Chrome.exe *32 / 60,000 K
Chrome.exe *32 / 50,000 K
Chrome.exe *32 / 40,000 K
Chrome.exe *32 / 10,000 K

Total = Roughly 4,555,000 K (with all over applications included)

Sometimes after about 20 minutes of playing BF4, the frame-rate will drop from an average of 70 to 25. Through trial and error, I figured out that closing the Google Chrome browser instantly boosts my frames back up to 70. The factor which doesn't add up though is that task manager states that the Chrome browser only accounts for roughly 750,000 K.

Even with BF4 and Chrome open, there should technically be 3.5GB of RAM left to spare. The other background applications etc definitely don't account for 3.5GB but Task Manager doesn't show any other big RAM eaters which is so unhelpful!

Hmm. This is definitely an odd one. Do me a favor, lower the settings on BF4 so it uses less VRAM. Then check system performances (CPU Usage, GPU usage, RAM, VRAM) with Chrome open and then closed. Then go back to the settings you had applied normally and do the same thing. You should have 4 sets of results.
