Fuxy/X vs 980 vs 980Ti accompanied by a 1440p monitor for Motion Graphics

Solution
DX12 is not a player now, or in the near future.
It takes both windows 10 and a game to implement.
And even then, it only multithreads some of the graphics driver code which is not the major cpu cost of a game anyway.

DX12 is nice, and will start to show up more, but it should not be the decisive factor in a graphics card decision today.

Buy a graphics card that does the job for you well in the first place, and do not bother with overclocking.

On the subject of 980 vs 980 TI go with the TI, for the additional price you get nearly a 30% preformance boost, and it's great for 1440p gaming, you will be able to max out any current game @ 60FPS

Currently in titles like witcher 3 the 980 GTX TI outpreforms the Fury X by a noticble margin, here are the 1440p benchmarks

Personally i'd go with the 980GTX TI.
