Also, the memory I have now (2+1 GB sticks) were 1.5 V RAMs, will 1.35 V RAM be compatible with my motherboard (I'm going to replace the 3 GB set with a single 8 GB stick) ???

1) The maximum memory for the system, and the maximum memory per slot is determined by the system memory controller. For this system, the memory controller is integrated within the CPU's.

So, yes, in general, the memory capacity of slots = maximum total system memory ÷ number of slots. In your case, the memory controller within the i3-370M CPU has set the total allowable system memory to be 8 GB, and the maximum memory capacity per slot is therefore = 8 GB ÷ 2 slots = 4 GB per slot.

2) Yes. The Sony VAIO supports 1.35 V memory modules.

Your laptop supports 1.50 V and 1.35 V memory.

Crucial 8 GB memory part number CT102464BF160B is not compatible with the Sony Vaio VPECB34EN laptop (according to memory search at Crucial website). There is no listing at Crucial website for any compatible 1 x 8 GB memory for this laptop.

Suggested alternative dual channel Crucial memory kit @ 2 x 4 GB = 8 GB (dual channel operation increases available memory bandwidth, and is recommended over single channel (one module) operation) : -

Part number CT2KIT51264BF160B, and also known as part number CT5312108

As there is no listing for the Sony Vaio VPECB34EN laptop at Adata website, compatible (and incompatible) Adata memory can't be confirmed.

Likewise, there is no listing for the Sony laptop at Corsair website, so again compatible Corsair memory can't be confirmed. Sorry.

What if I can't get any in my area (or even in my country)?
 
It is advisable to confirm memory compatibility by using memory manufacturer memory search/memory configurators before ordering memory.

If (compatible) memory is not available for sale locally/in your country, then (compatible) memory could be ordered from overseas online retailers who ship to your country. In this case, the memory might cost a bit more due to shipping and/or customs charges though.

Yeah, cost is my important concern for me, I think I can't upgrade my memory :(

Apologies for the late response; I've been very busy with other matters.

After checking with most (major) memory manufacturers, and with the exception of Crucial, all other memory manufacturers checked do not have a listing for the Sony VAIO VPCEB34EN laptop. So it can't be confirmed what memory is compatible with this laptop, although there probably will be some compatible memory but it is unknown which specific models or part numbers are compatible.

As mentioned previously, Crucial have a 2 x 4 GB kit available (part number CT5312108 which is also known as part number CT2KIT51264BF160B) which is compatible with the Sony laptop. Unfortunately, after a quick check of online retailers listed above, it appears this kit is not available.

The next best option is maybe try two separate 4 GB modules, but there is a risk that the two modules may not work together (properly) due to module characteristic variations between the two modules. But you might be lucky and get the two modules to run together.

The Crucial part number for 4 GB memory module (@ 1600 MHz) is CT51264BF160B, which is also known as part number CT5304270. This module appears to be available at most of the above listed online stores.

So, two 4 GB identical kits (bought separately) will work as 8 GB? (I don't want them to work in dual-channel, I just need running 8GB memory @1600 MHz).

Also two more questions:
1) The current RAM I have is 1.5V. Can I buy 1.35V sticks? Will there be any problem?
2) If my laptop has two slots with max capacity at 8GB, wouldn't a single 8GB stick work? ('cause I read it online that 8GB max with two slots means a single slot can support only up to 4GB)

Please advise.
 
The Sony VAIO VPCEB34EN uses an i3-370M CPU.

According to Intel specification, this i3-370M CPU supports up to 4 GB modules. There is no support for 8 GB modules.

If wanting 8 GB total memory for the VAIO VPCEB34EN, then two 4 GB modules will have to be used. A single 8 GB module can not be used. So, to use 8 GB total system memory, two 4 GB modules will have to be used. There is no other option.

Basically, each slot supports up to 4 GB only. The slots do not support 8 GB memory.

As stated previously, an 8 GB kit consisting of 2 x 4 GB modules is the preferred option, as the modules are guaranteed to be compatible with each other. But as also mentioned previously, the only known compatible 8 GB kit (with 2 x 4 GB modules) is the Crucial kit CT2KIT51264BF160B. However, this kit doesn't appear to be available from your four stores listed above.

And again as previously mentioned, the next best option is to use two single/individual modules (two 1 x 4 GB) which are not from a kit. As the modules are not from a kit, there is a possibility the modules may not work together properly due to memory module characteristic variations. But there is a chance the modules may work together, if lucky.

The suggested 4 GB modules are Crucial part number CT51264BF160B. These modules run at 1.35 V.

1.35 V modules will be run at 1.50 V when used together with 1.50 V modules. The 1.35 V modules can run at 1.50 V with no problem.

Final questions:

1) Is the maximum memory supported per slot depends on the CPU or it's just the (the total max supported memory <divided by> no. of slots) = max supported memory per slot?

2) My motherboard is handing 1.5V sticks in two slots now. (which means each slot can provide upto 1.5V) So will these slots handle 1.35V sticks without any problem?

Are CT51264BF160BJ and CT51264BF160B the same?

I'm getting confused with these part numbers. Also, the image from the available online retail stores and the image from Crucial official website seems to be different. (Crucial shows 8 black chips and stores show 4 black chips).

No! Part numbers CT51264BF160BJ and CT51264BF160B are not the same!

Part number CT51264BF160BJ is not compatible with the laptop.

Get part number -> CT51264BF160B <-

Images of memory modules may not necessarily be of the actual module itself. Instead, images of similar looking modules may be used. So don't use images as a guide for buying memory, buy the memory based on model or part number!

If "a laptop with two memory slots that supports up to 8GB means each slot can support up to 4GB only", the same applies for PC too?

A mobo that supports upto 16GB (with 4 slots) will not support two 8 GB sticks in it? Just asking, no motherboard to specify.
 
As a guide, and as mentioned in my earlier post, generally, the maximum capacity of memory per memory slot = total system memory divided by number of memory slots. So for 16 GB total system memory support, the maximum capacity per memory slot = 16 GB / 4 slots = 4 GB per slot.

This applies to laptops and desktops.

But. It may be possible to use, say, two 8 GB memory modules (instead of four 4 GB modules) for a total system memory of 16 GB. But this arrangement is dependent on whether the memory controller and BIOS allows this configuration.

If there is any doubt about what the maximum supported memory capacity per slot is, then, playing it safe, use the base guide of maximum supported system memory divided by number of slots.

Determining whether the system supports higher capacity memory per slot requires detailed research into memory controller specifications and into the BIOS specifications also.

No, they are advertising the wrong product. The delivered product was a different part number and it was not working.
