I am currently looking to upgrade my old computer for more all-round gaming on normal or medium settings and like your help with this.

Current build :

Cpu: Intel g1610
Gpu: ati hd 6570, 2Gb ddr3
Mob: Gigabyte with max 4Gb ddr3
Ram: 4Gb corsair ddr3
Psu: 850 watt corsair
Cpu Cooler: coolermaster push pull system
HDD: 2x 1TB wd 3.5 hdd for games and programs
SSD: 1x 60GB ssd kingston for os only / windows 8.1 64 bit
Screen: Lg 42 Inch 1080p IPS led screen connected via hdmi 1.4
mouse/keyboard: usb razer naga hex / usb razer anansi
headset: usb razer headset kraken
mic: audio technica usb
video capture card: AVERMEDIA LIVE GAMER PORTABLE
webcam: LOGITECH C920
all externals are powered via powered usb hub

Next build:

Cpu: Intel g 3220 or amd a8 7600
Gpu: gtx 750ti or is current video card good enough
Mob: Gigabyte depends on cpu, Max 16Gb ddr
Ram: 8gb ddr corsair
the rest will be the same as old build.

I like to know your thoughts about what cpu and gpu is better is was thinking of using intel i7 but these are to expensive for me at this point.

If you have any better options i like to hear it from you, you will be helping me out big time.

Purpose

All-round games on normal and medium settings on current build screen
game play video will be rendered via sony vegas pro
internet via Ethernet cable / provider fiberglass 100mbit up/down

GPU: since you are upgrading the Mobo, you'll most likely upgrade to a PCIe 3.0, your current card is 2.1 so it will be bottlenecked. On my Rig I got it the other way around: 3.0 PCIe card on a 2.0 Mobo with the same bottleneck effect. PCIe 3.0 is supposed to have double the speed in a x16 slot. With that aside the 750Ti gives much more output. Even with the PCIe 2.0 restriction I got my 750Ti to perform extremly well in games (with graphics set to max on many games and a steady 30-50 fps depending on which game). Numbers don't lie; the Radeon has GDDR3 while the Geforce has GDDR5. The 750Ti excel in all other aspects such as clock rate. But, I haven't tried the ati 6570 myself, so I rely mainly on bechmarks on the net.

CPU: Depending on what type of games you play the answer is different. If you seek latest video-games the more cores the better, hence A8 7600 is the one to pick (4 cores, while the other Intel you mentioned are dual). G3220 supports only ddr3 up to 1366 MHz, meanwhile A8 7600 supports up to 2133 (which is somewhat of excess for the current applications), and you need 1600 MHz for smooth expirence. the A8 has a total of 0.5MB more cache, AND it's all on L2: much better. A clear winner to me is the A8 7600. The performance thou doesn't differ much in single-core applications, mainly on multi-core.

Hope this feedback was what you were seeking. Building new rig depends ofc on your budget as well and in what part of the world you live in. So always keep an eye on local special offers and deals to help you decide on what to pick.

Hi, I own two computers.

The one at home, has a Pentium G3258, 4 gigabytes in RAM (1333 mhz) and a EVGA GTX 750 Ti FTW.
Just remember that the G3258 is faster than the G3220, not by a lot but just consider it.

And one at my job, has an AMD A8 7600, 8 gigabytes in RAM (2133 mhz) and no external Graphics card.

Both systems have Kingston V300 SSD.

Comparing both systems speeds in the very basic work like web surfing, Microsoft Office (Excel and Access), LibreOffice (calc) I can see a noticeable difference in loading speeds, like twice the speed on favor on the G3258 over the AMD, 1 second vs 2 seconds loading time, yep, the Intel is twice as fast as the AMD, but its a tiny second.

Do I care? No
Will you care? Don't know

Gaming, well, I have some games (mostly old) and I only have 2 games that I have in both of my systems:

War Thunder
Empire: Total War

In both games maps load faster with the intel processor, and sometimes the loading time differences are BIG, but during game I don't see (or feel) like neither of the processors bottleneck the games, especially in Empire Total War wich sometimes would be a little too CPU intensive in BIG battles, well CPU intensive for a 2009 game, so take this opinion with a grain of salt ;)

The differences in graphics are big, the GTX 750 Ti FTW mops the floor with the A8 7600, but the AMD does a good job given its price, however you will not use the AMD's graphics, so this comparison is worthless.

There is a problem with the Intel processors of that price range, they are 2 cores, so, the latest games like GTA V and the Witcher III for example, won't run with the intel processor, meanwhile the A8 7600 will run them without much of a problem, remember, 2 vs 4 cores.

Power consumption.

The Intel (without the GTX 750 ti) in basic computing, web surfing, office work, HTPC averages 40 watts, and the AMDA8 7600 at 65w mode averages the 45w, only when booting the AMD model draws 95w during a couple of seconds, but I've never seen during my tests such energy draw even in gaming wich averages 80w. I was expecting a lot more power consumption in the AMD processor because I read some reviews about the AMD processor and scared me a little with 90w loading..

Hope this help ;)

Good luck with your system, if you have questions about my experience using those processors I will be happy to answer, just, be patient, I not every day check this Forum ;)
