Trouble with Ethernet connection in win 8.1 pro

I try to play LAN games with my friends by attach two Laptops through a LAN cable. Problem is my computer show that it is limited and when i try to Troubleshoot the Ethernet it say "Ethernet 2 does not have valid ip configuration". My Friends using window 7 and i using window 8.1. The Cable is fine since my friends doesn't have the limited sign popup. When i run cmd and type ipconfig the ip is 169.254.241.115 and my friends also have 169.xxx.xxx.xxx. Plz i try everything on google but nothing works so far.

it will always show that your connection is limited unless one of the laptops has a working internet access However you still can play lan games without internet access, also try to join both laptops to a home group
