Hello all, I have a weird USB hard drive (Fantom Drive/external power) problem. When I connect and power-on this drive all of my USB ports are disabled. This drive use to work fine, then started acting-up. In order to return things to normal. I power-down the drive and physically disconnect and reconnect all my USB connected items...any ideas what's going on? Hopefully, the drive is not toast and currently do not have a 2d PC or laptap to test if its a drive issue.

Hey there, Yoshi_1.

This is a bit strange. Unfortunately, one of the best options to test that, is to try it with a different computer, so I'd suggest that you try and find one soon. Do other external mass storage devices trigger the same issue when you connect them to your computer, or this only happens with this particular drive?
Other than that, the first thing you should do, is to backup any important data which you might have on the HDD, just to be on the safe side. Aftert that, try the drive with a different USB cable, to see if the problem persists. If that doesn't prove useful, I'd suggest that you download the HDD manufacturer's diagnostics tool (or a 3rd party one if the manufacturer doesn't offer such a tool) and run the tests on the drive, to see if there's anything out of the ordinary.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.
