I think I've answered my question through additional research. I think the PS/2 to USB adapter I was considering (please see original post below) can only be used to attach PS/2 style keyboard and mouse connectors to a computer's USB port, not to introduce a USB wireless keyboard and mouse transceiver signals to a computer's PS/2 ports.
I think I've further learned that this is not possible because the USB wireless keyboard and mouse transceivers don't do any sort of USB-to-PS/2 protocol translation, they interface through the USB driver. Also, I think the chipset inside these PS/2 to USB adapters cannot support the job I wanted it to do.
Bottom line is, after a good bit of Internet research I believe I have an unsolvable problem. The only solution apparent to me would be the unlikely advertisement of a NOS wireless keyboard and mouse matching the capabilities and configuration of the one I'm currently using (equivalent to the Wireless Desktop PT-2001) for sale on the Internet. But I'd love to hear if anyone out there has solved this problem.

I have a current multi-computer configuration using a very old bargain CompUSA PS/2 style wireless keyboard and mouse combo (the kind with the clunky RF transceiver and the PS/2 connector tails) interfaced with several computers using an Aten CS1004 KVM switch (PS/2) for mouse and keyboard only; video for the dedicated monitors is wired direct between the video cards and dedicated displays for the computers. This configuration works very well, but I anticipate the aging CompUSA PS/2 wireless mouse and/or keyboard will fail someday soon and I'm trying to spare-up before that happens, or maybe even cut over to new equipment before it happens. I have a spare Aten CS1004 KVM switch but the current one is so rock solid I'm not very worried about it.
It turns out that replacement PS/2 style wireless mouse/keyboard combos (the kind with the clunky RF transceiver and the PS/2 connector tails) are pretty difficult to find now. Plenty of USB models out there. If I could find a suitable PS/2 style wireless mouse/keyboard combo I'd probably get that since that configuration is working. But since I'm not having much luck finding those, here's what I'm considering and wondering about.
If I purchase a USB style wireless keyboard and mouse combo and a dual tail (mouse and keyboard) PS/2 to USB converter, including USB gender coupler, can I expect the USB wireless keyboard/mouse transceiver to operate properly from the power [ed. - and protocol] it receives from the connected computers through the KVM and by way of the PS/2 connections and the PS/2 to USB converter?
Very grateful if anyone has had some experience with this scenario and can enlighten me. Thanks!
