So I am pretty confident my HTS541010A9E680 hard drive failed pretty much out of no where. Earlier today was using it like normal when media (video/stream) froze up. I have had instances over the time of owning the machine where this sometimes happened. However unlike certain instances I was unable to ctrl alt del and instead powered down manually. When I powered back on I came to a "repair and scanning disk" screen where it kept hanging on 4% and would later reset into a loop. I was able to skip the process but once getting to the Windows screen it would lock up on "welcome" after logging in.

Basically I am just interested in some suggestions. I am not very experienced in replacing hardware (owning a laptop) but I still like the laptop and if a simple hard drive replacement is all that is needed it would be better than spending $1.2k on a g751. However at the same time I am aware of the potential challenges that may arise by doing this and want to do it right or not at all. Unfortunately I did not back anything up, which isn't a big deal other than losing Windows. Lastly. If I were to replace my drive instead of purchasing a new computer I am interested in the idea of an ssd to go along with a new drive but not completely aware of how to go about all of this efficiently and as to whether it would make sense.

Thanks for your time, any help would be appreciated.

This just happened to me today but I have the GL551JW-DS74, same thing about it just stopping. Worked fine with no problems or issues or slowdowns. Oh well. Will post question on another thread.
