Hello tom's hardware,

I am soon going to be ordering a notebook of which you can pick the parts yourself. For storage I was thinking to choose either a 500GB Samsing 850 evo m.2 ssd or 2 240GB Samsung 850 evo's in RAID0. The second configuration only costs 25 euro's more so what do you think would be better peformance-wise cost-wise?

Thanks,
Qwizh

Hey there, Qwizsh.

I'm with @Cons29 on this one. In my opinion, there's no point to RAID 2 m.2 SATA SSDs in RAID 0, as the single drive would still get to use most of what the SATA III interface can offer in terms of speeds. But at the end of the day, it's all up to you so here's an article with a lot of benchmark tests and info on the subject: http://www.thessdreview.com/our-reviews/samsung-850-evo-m-2-sata-ssd-review-120gb500gb/.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.

well, if it was me, i'd get 1 ssd, or 2, but not raid.

ssd's are fast, not sure if you will notice the difference if you raid them, or if you need such improvement.
i just think i'd rather get the extra space than extra performance. 90mph is not bad compared to 100mph, just my 2 cents

I am sorry, I was mistaken. The SSD's are both 250GB Samsung 850 Evo's so the capacity would be the same with a differnce in price of about 23 euro's.

Hmm I think I am just going with 1 SSD. I just wanted more speed but it seems that's not necessary. Thanks anyway:)
