AsRock Fatality x99x Killer compatibility problems? Errors? Bad hardware?

i have an AsRock Fatality X99X killer and got some problems with the videocard. First i put in an Asus strix gtx 970, and for 6 months i kept getting bluescreens , freeze screens, randomly ( as like it could be in an hour or 10 minutes or 5 hours ). Then, after a freeze, my videocard would not show anything on the screen, so i thought that is the problem and i put in the old one, gt 440 or something ( which has no auxiliar power source connector, that is how i eliminated the idea of a problem with the power source - i have a 850W PS ). With the old one i had the same problems and after 1 week i decided to put back the gtx 970 and guess what it worked, but still going for the bluescreens. Now what could possibly be the problem that 2 total different videocards do the same errors randomly?

Solution
first off make sure you have the newest bios for the mb. download hardware info 64 turn on sensor and logging make sure the power supply is staying within atx spec. with new mb and power supply the 12v cpu power conenctor has to be outputting stable 12v or the cpu and pci bus can crash. the first 75w of any gpu comes from those 4/8 pin connector. in the bios under dram speed make sure ram set to xmp profile to rule out a ram to cpu speed issue. from intel download and run there cpu test to see if the cpu is fine. also to rule out bad cpu with bad core or cache turn them off in the bios see if the pc runs without error. also rule out bad ram if you have two sticks of ram try running the pc wiht one and run memtest86 from a boot cd or usb...

Hi,
I'm Davis from ASRock HQ TSD.

According to the information you posted, your system will get BSOD or freeze randomly.
But if you changed the VGA card to GT440, the system were working well.
We provide few ways for you to verify.
1.Please load BIOS default setting.
2.Please install GTX 970 to every slots for try.
3.Please check whether the pins bent in CPU socket.
4.We recommend to install the VGA card to another platform for checking.

Thanks a lot !!

Maybe i got misunderstood, neither of the videocards work on the motherboard. That means that i tried each videocard in every slot and still got the BSOD and freezes randomly. So GTX970 does not work properly, nor the gt440. Because there are some differences between these 2 videocards, means that not the videocards are the problem, nor the source power, because gt440 does not use a auxiliar source power, only uses the slot as power source. So maybe there is a problem with the motherboard. But to answer for the tasks :
1. i did not overclocked the computer or changed things in the BIOS, they are the same as were when i installed the components.
2. I tried gtx 970 in every slot already and i did the same thing with the gt 440 ( unfortunately i have got time in 6 months to change gtx from slot to slot and in 1 to change the gt440 )
3. i will check the pins when i get home, but help me understand why this can be the problem
4. i have the old computer, from where i got the gt 440, and it works fine

In conclusion , from what you said to me, for the moment, the only problem would be the CPU pins, but what happens if they are alright? could be that the PCI-E slots are broken?

So first i run the test for the CPU ( the one from intel ) and it did not finish ( and i waited like 15 minutes ). Then i updated my motherboard from 1.2 to 1.9 and run again the CPU test. Now the test passed. So to answer to all your tasks :
1.I downloaded the info , but i will leave here a photo with all the voltages of the mb, because i do not know which one you mean
2. it is set to xmp profile
3. now , after the update of the mb bios, the CPU test passed and is all good in the hood
4. "also to rule out bad cpu with bad core or cache turn them off in the bios see if the pc runs without error" -> i do not know how to do this.
5. i had run some time ago a memtest like 3-4 months ago and it was all good
6. As i saw from the results of the hardware info and also i checked 2-3 months ago the temperatures ( with HWMonitor ) the harware is not heating up, so there is no problem with heating.

Well beside no.4 i did everything else ( and also i did not checked for the pins ). Maybe it was the bios the problem, we will see, as i said before it is a random problem, so i have to wait and see if it happens again or not. I will come back with an answer if it happens again. But that no.4 i want to know what you mean.

no more problems after the update of the bios. Thanks!
