So, I recently purchased from monoprice a 35ft redmere "active" HDMI cable to connect my PC to my bedroom TV. extending the display seems to work fine. My problem is when I go to "duplicate" my display. What happens is my main monitor goes strange, the wallpaper seems fine but all the windows and file get larger(like the resolution suddenly went down) as well as my internet browser. is there something extra I need to do when using active HDMI? Any help will be greatly appreciated

It's probably a scaling problem if the resolution is correct. Try extending displays and set your 1st display as the primary (main) display (You can do this from nVidia Control panel or AMD Catalyst). Then duplicate and set the scaling to 100%.
active HDMI should make no difference. All that the "active" portion is doing is amplifying the signal so that it can travel farther.

I would first try updating your video driver if it is not the newest version. Sounds more like an issue with your PC then with the cable itself.
Just to be sure though you can move stuff temporarily so you can plug in both the TV and the monitor with a 6ft length cable.

If you are duplicating one display to another, they will both be given the same resolution. Is your TV the same resolution as your monitor? If not, expect one to get a non-native resolution sent to it. Which screen Windows determines is going to set the resolution for the other one should be determined by your primary screen selection in Windows.
