Hello!

I want to make my own Desktop PC (mostly for Gaming, but I might do something with video editing and music in the future) with a budget of not more than €1400 ($1584, £1028). Ive selected some parts already (all prices are from Tweakers):

Case: HAF 912A (€95,26)
CPU: Intel i7-6700K (Boxed, no cooler in box) (€358)
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 (€88,50)
GPU: Inno3D GeForce GTX 970 iChill Ultra 4GB (€398,50)
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport BLS2C4G4D240FSA (€52,50)
Storage: Seagate Desktop HDD ST1000DM003 1TB (€46,95)
Motherboard: Asus Z170 PRO GAMING (€148,95)
Power Supply: Corsair RM750 (€123,50)
Monitor: LG 24M37D-B (€129)

Total: €1441,16

Im a bit over budget, so I have the following questions:

- Do all parts work together correctly? I tried to match everything as much as I could but Im far from a professional PC builder.
- Is the case big enough to fit everything in?
- Can it be done cheaper? If I can save some money by selecting different parts that work well with the CPU and GPU, I sure will. I dont want to save too much on the CPU and GPU self if possible. I feel like I can save on the Motherboard, but I dont really know what to replace it with.

Also, Im not planning to Overclock anything yet.

If anyone could help me with this, that would be great! If you need to remake the whole rig to make the CPU and GPU work, please do :)

Thank you in advance,

If you are not planning to overclock you can get lighter air cooler and save some euros in order to get 16gb memory. Crucial delivers pretty much value for money.

You have a nice graphic card, so it would be a pity, if your system gets low because of memory issue.

That noctua heatsink seems pretty overkill for your tasks. Get a hyper 212 evo instead and spend the extra money on a 16 GB kit of RAM vs the low 8 GB. If you want to save even more money, try going for something like the Fractal Define S with window. Its a little bit less and I think you will enjoy it more than the 912. That card also seems a little overpriced for a gtx 970, try getting the strix instead. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-strixgtx970dc2oc4gd5 That in combination with the other recommendations I should give you will work fine. As far as the motherboard goes, you can try getting an Asus Z170-A board. Cheers.

And if you want to save money you could get the i5-6600k instead. saving more than 100 euros for almost same performance. And so you could get a SSD, where you actually see increasng load time for applications, games andboot time.

Keep the 6700k, hyper-threading won't help you play video games but it will help with video editing or DAW environments. Seconding ASUS Strix edition 970 in place of that iChill crap. Try this RAM instead, 8GB is productivity baseline these days, you should be aiming for 16GB with your intentions.

Also, you have no SSD in your build which is going to make it considerably slower. There isn't much point in building a new PC if you're not going to include an SSD. I recommend:

Here's a much better PSU for cheaper:

Ok, so the new rig is:

Case: Fractal Define S (€91 @ Tweakers) [NEEDS CHANGE]
CPU: Intel i5-6600K (€253 @ Tweakers)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (€28 @ Tweakers)
GPU: Asus STRIX-GTX970-DC2OC-4GD5 (€360 @ Tweakers)
RAM: ADATA XPG Z1 16GB (2 x 8GB) (€107 @ Newegg)
Drive: Seagate Desktop HDD ST1000DM003, 1TB (€50 @ Tweakers)
Motherboard: Asus Z170 PRO GAMING (€150 @ Tweakers)
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 120GB (€69 @ Tweakers)
PSU: EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR 80 PLUS GOLD 750W (€112 @ Newegg)
Monitor: LG 24M37D-B (€129 @ Tweakers)

Total: €1327

I decided to go for the i5-6600K because I wont be doing too much video editing, and I dont feel like paying €147 extra for a 10 FPS difference that I cant even see since its above 60 FPS.

I was really debating if 8Gb was enough, but I decided to go with 16Gb so my PC is ready for future games.

So, again:

- Does this all work together?
-> Can I save some money on the case? It isnt that important to me how it looks but I want to make sure it fits. I want it to look atleast somewhat nice, and I dont like the look of the Fractal Devine S. I did choose it over the HAF 912A since the prices of that case just skyrocketed. So does anyone have another suggestion for a cool case for not to much that is big enough to fit everything in?

Thanks for the answers :)

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/case/#t=4,3
any case in this list manages to fit your components. choose one (basically, any case that is Full Tower or Mid Tower works)

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-04gp43978kr
Get this model instead of the strix one. higher clock and its like the "version 2.0" of the original EVGA model. So its previous faults are gone (heat, consumption, etc). Has the highest clock on the market.

Since you are trying to save money, I suggest you go with a lower PSU. That is way over the top for those components. Try something like this:
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-s12ii520bronze
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb9
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ss600et
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-s12ii620bronze

Regarding the PSU, if you plan on going SLI in the future, stay with the one you have now on that list.

Finally for the HDD, i recommend going WD rather than Seagate:

Second new rig:

Case: Azza SIRIUS ATX Mid Tower Case (€50 @ Tweakers)
CPU: Intel i5-6600K (€253 @ Tweakers)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (€28 @ Tweakers)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW+ ACX 2.0 4GB (€406 @ Tweakers)
RAM: ADATA XPG Z1 16GB (2 x 8GB) (€107 @ Newegg)
Drive: WD Blue WD10EZEX, 1TB (€51 @ Tweakers)
Motherboard: Asus Z170 PRO GAMING (€150 @ Tweakers)
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 120GB (€69 @ Tweakers)
PSU: XFX TS Series 550W PSU 80+ Bronze (€60 @ Newegg)
Monitor: LG 24M47VQ (€136 @ Tweakers)

Total: €1310 (excl. Shipping)

Im pretty happy with this. I assume everything works together and it should all fit in case, right? The GPU could be a bit cheaper, but I like the sound of "Get this model instead of the strix one. higher clock and its like the "version 2.0" of the original EVGA model. So its previous faults are gone (heat, consumption, etc). Has the highest clock on the market."

If theres anyting wrong with this rig, please let me know.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who took the time to help me with this!

that build is perfect. only thing you could possibly change would be the SSD with higher capacity (not necessary) and a different monitor (maybe this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/benq-monitor-gl2460hm).

The case is personal preference, so I usually dont advice on that.

rest of the build is perfect.
