A few days ago I noticed that my power supply cable made a crackling noise when I plugged it into the pc. I didn't seem out of the ordinary back then. However, yesterday I tried to turn on the computer and nothing happened. I immediately checked the cable and saw it was still plugged in. It was not firmly fixed in its position (although it was fully plugged in) and I could still sightly move it upward and downward. I did so and the result was not only the mentioned crackling noise the cable made. Additionally the speakers made a much louder, continuous crack that stopped only after I left the cable alone. After moving it I could turn on the pc. The same thing happened to me today. The power supply (730W) and the computer as a whole (I7-4790K, GTX 980ti) are fairly new, bought less than a month ago. I use a socket with six slots, every one of them occupied. Can anyone tell me where the problem lies? I suspect the cable but the crackling speakers seem awkward. Thanks for helping me out, I really appreciate it.

Solution
Hi
That is a poor connection between the cable contacts and the PSU contacts.
The crackling is being caused by the connections not quite making contact and little arcs of electricity sparking between the contacts this causes noise in the system and also produces radio noise which could be getting picked up by the speakers.
Time to get a new PSU cable, and get a good quality one not the cheapest.
