I am having a very frustrating and persistant WIFI problem, one that i have never encountered before. This all started a couple weeks ago. Heres the problem:

Im on my laptop (HP envy Dv6) when all of a sudden a little yellow triangle appears ove my wifi. This has happened before, i usally just disconnect and reconnect. I do this but now my wifi says no networks found, and my wifi icon is empty with a red X. When i try to turn off my wifi (with the slider) it does not respond, it just stays on. When i turn on airplane mode it turns off the wifi however when i turn AM off and try to turn on my wifi (again with slider) it again does not respond, it just stays off. When i run diagnotics nothing comes up except plug in a LAN cable (which does work) but my wifi is still broke. When enter my network sharing center the problem here differs. Sometimes it will not even show me having a wifi adapter, sometimes its just greyed out and other times it is green but says no connection. When its greyed SOMETIMES it will respond to being enabled but not always. When green or not there the only way to get the wifi to work is to restart the computer which gives me maybe 5 min until it breaks again.

At first i thought this was the network card so i bought and installed a new one to no avail. Please help!

Yes i installed the new drives
Yes it works with a ethernet cable
I am running windows 8.1
The computer is only 2-3 years old and have a i7 processor, nVIDA graphics card, 64bit and 8gb of ram.

First off, are you using dynamic IP addressing scheme? Look at your IPv4 Properties window and see if it is configured to get IP address automatically, including get your DNS server address automatically. If not, check both radio buttons.

The other consideration is look at your LAN settings and insure your not configured to use a proxy. Sometimes rogue programs will alter this configuration, change your Internet Properties under the Connection tab and steer you through a proxy server. Simply uncheck Proxy Server and check the box Automatically Detect Settings.

Last of all, are you using a static IP address scheme, be sure to adjust your DNS IP addresses. If you have the Preferred and Alternative DNS server addresses entered here, try to ping them, see how responsive they are. If not, use another pair. I use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for my Preferred and Alternate, respectively.

When you make a change to your IP interface, it is always a good idea to disable and enable your N.I.C. card, so the changes are reset where they matter.
