If you look on https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ the A10-8700p is faster than a I5 5200, i test my laptop A10-8700p TDP@35W and my score was 4,225 and the I5 5200 only get 3,504 the average score of the A10-8700P is 3,626 but i assume its because there is 15W TDP on the market.

A10 8700p

Pros.-
comes with hevc decoder which helps decode h.265 video files (still very uncommon but will become relevant soon) .

comes with decent graphics so you can play light games ...

Cons.- You need dual channel memory to feed the integrated graphics with enough bandwidth for ideal performance ..

i5 or i7

Pros.- cpu performance is about 20-30% better than the a10 ..

does not need any particular dual channel ram configuration for ideal performance

Cons.- Graphics is much worse unless you buy the one with Iris Pro graphics

no hevc decoder ..

Poor price / performance ratio especially for the i7s ..

So basically if you want a home pc for movie watching + some light gaming , get the a10 laptop

but if you are buying this for heavy cpu workloads then get the i5 or i7 depending on your budget ..

yeah amd a10 8700p is a good laptop but the pc with the proccessor said that it had dual channel memory so would that change anything, cuz i use amd a10 8700p for internet surfing, light video editing, so there wont be too much cpu load and I think i7 is a tad overpriced eh?

no cpu wise the i5 is slightly better but since most newer applications support gpu acceleration the a10 will feel just as snappy as the i5 ...

How did you test the a10-8700p at 35W? Mine is limited at 15W and I can't change it. Do you own a laptop using the full range?
