M.2 SSD upgrade questions.

So, I ordered a Transcend SSD to put in the base model of the Acer V15 nitro. I noticed in a teardown article, the slot has a screw to secure the SSD. Do M.2 SSDs come with this? What happens if I do not use the screw? Thanks.
Side Note: How do I migrate Windows to the SSD? It comes with Win 8.1, and on my previous computer, windows did not ask where to install the new windows. So, how do I move the OS to the SSD without moving everything else?

Are you asking if you are doing a clean install which drive Windows will chose to install to? That is something that you manually chose once the Windows installation disc starts the install process. It'll ask you which drive and then if you want to create and format the partitions before it begins copying the files.

Most desktop motherboards I have seen come with the screw installed. So, I would assume that your laptop would have it on there as well for convenience sake.

As for cloning the old disk over, try Far Stone Drive Clone. It works very similar to the cloning software that comes with Samsung SSDs but this works on any SSD. http://www.farstone.com/software/Drive-Clone.php

If you don't want to clone, you have to do a fresh install using a DVD or a USB drive. You can DL the Windows ISO and burn it to a blank if you don't have a copy of it already. Follow these steps - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

can't really tell with the pictures. (Link here: http://bit.ly/1KlzZ1X)
Also, what would happen if I didn't secure it?

Then, could I do a clean re-install of the OS? I heard somewhere that Win 10 saves your hardware setup, so if you re-istall windows, you don't need the license?

It is pic #8. And there appears to be no screw there so you either have to get one with the SSD you are getting or you have to buy it separately. The screw goes into the orange colored plastic part of the laptop housing.

if you don't secure it, you will risk corrupting the data on it and possibly destroying the drive as it can pop up off the socket.

OK, now we introduce an Upgrade to Win 10 into the situation.

You can't change both the OS and the drive in one motion.
Upgrade first and then change drives,
or
Change drives, then Upgrade to Win 10.

Change drives then Upgrade to Win 10 is what I would do even though the old drive is on the same laptop.

I understand that, but my question is, if I add the SSD, and in the BIOS set it to boot from that, then upgrade Windows, will it install to the ssd as it is the highest priority on the boot order? Or am I missing something here?

You have to have the OS on the SSD first, then Upgrade that. The Upgrade function must be run from within an existing, valid, activated OS.
You can't just boot directly to the Win 10 install and install it.
