Hey everyone,

So here is my problem, I have seen this question asked multiple times but none of those fixes works for me. What I want to know if its my Laptop or Hard Drive.

So I have re-installed windows multiple times. My computer will work with a fresh install for about 2-3 days before I get the (Operating System Not Found) message when I turn it on. My solution has been this:
1.) I open up the laptop remove the hard drive
2.) Then I insert the hard drive again and it will read windows.
The problem is that sometimes it will work and sometimes it will get stuck in loop and nothing can fix it only a fresh install.

So please can you guys tell me if its the laptop, or maybe its my hard drive that's messed up already. I don't mind spending $80-100 on a new hard drive or ssd but I don't want to buy a new hard drive and then it not be that. If its the laptop I can start looking and saving up for a new machine. I have a desktop its not my priority but I do use it for school for notes and programming class.

Hi,

First you can actually run a test with your HDD inside BIOS there's what you called SMART test to see if there is something wrong with it. I suggest to run the SMART extended test to thoroughly check the HDD. It will give you an error message if it fails even the slightest problem. Next is to reset the CMOS battery and observe the laptop again. If the laptop still goes to a loop or ended up with the same problem I suggest to replace the HDD.

Hope this helps.
