I just built a Skylake i7 build for a friend, the PC wont boot with the RAM installed in any configuration/location but DIMM slot 4 on the mobo. Both RAM modules will boot in DIMM 4, so the RAM can't be at fault. Im guessing its the mobo's DIMM slots that are faulty? With a single stick installed, i was able to installed windows 8.1 and all drivers successfully. I need to get this sorted asap, any help is appreciated. Thanks

Motherboard is: Gigabyte Z170M-D3H-CF
RAM: Corsair Vengeance CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 (2x8gb)

I have tried every combination, DIMM 4 - 2, DIMM 1 - 2, DIMM 1 - 3, etc.

I can only assume the mobo, but don't want to rule it down to that. Unfortunately I don't have a DDR4 or z170 rig myself so I don't have any components to troubleshoot with.

Yeah in that case I would have to boil it down to a bad motherboard. Only other solutions are simple ones which I'm sure you've been through such as making sure nothing is obstructing the other DIMM slots and that the RAM is completely seated.

Yeah mate, Ive checked all the obvious things. Ive honestly never had a new mobo DOA before, I had faith in Gigabyte!

I've had bad experiences with Asus products in general, but never Gigabyte. Requesting a warranty claim form now for the mobo.
