Hi guy,

I'm building a new computer after 7 years, so it took me a while to get back in the saddle.

I have a somewhat limited budget, but if the specs are worth upgrading and paying extra, that's cool.

Computer is for:

-playing WOW and Dota2, as I don't play any other game, however I do want to play WOW on ultra
-programming and coding
-light to moderate Photoshop & Illustrator works
-light to moderate video rendering
-basic everyday stuff (internet, MS Office, etc)

Now, what I do hate is LAG and waiting. Even in mundane things.

And for the specs:

CPU: I'm thinking over i5-4460, i5-4690k and some cheaper i7 in that cathegory.
Thing is, I don't know if I will actually ever OC, but having a K gives me the opportunity

MOBO: Gigabyte H97 D3H or Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 3 or GigabiteZ97MX Gaming 5

Thing is, I'm probably going with the i5-4460, so I don't know if 30-40 euro more is worth the z97? Will I benefit from it?

GPU: Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 750ti or GTX 950

Will the difference in performance be that great?

My biggest concerns are MOBO and CPU tbh, so please, give me your thoughts! :)

PS. IS it worth going for anything faster than 1866 mhz for RAM? I'm thinking 2x8 gigs

Considering what you want to do here's what I recommend-

Budget system

-CPU: Intel XEON 1231 V3.
-Motherboard: H97 ATX.
-GPU: Nvidia GTX 960.
-DDR3: 16GB 1600 CAS 8.
---------------------------------------
High End System

-CPU: Intel i7-4790K.
-Motherboard: Z97 ATX.
-GPU: Nvidia GTX 970.
-DDR3: 16GB 1866 CAS 9.

I haven't even heard of Intel Xeon until now.. just researched it.. It isn't available in my country lol (only as a pre-bought configuration) but I'm wondering, how is it a "budget" build when it should be faster and stronger?

PS. Can't you unlock support for 1866 mhz in bios? Or is it only available for the Z version?
PPS: GTX 950 is the highest I can afford here (prices are kinda strange), the budget choice would be GTX 750 TI

Intel i7-4790K is stronger than the Xeon I mentioned. With stable overclocking the i7 can best the Xeon by ~800mhz. to 1Ghz. Both have hyperthreading and turbo boost, but Xeon lacks the ability to overclock and does not have iGPU, thus costing less but still performing well. Installing 1600 CAS 8 memory with a Xeon would be similar in performance to 1866 CAS 9 with i7. The tasks you plan to use the pc for would benefit from an i7/Xeon CPU with hyperthreading. If this is too expensive, then an 8 core AMD FX-8350 could be an alternative, but it will not perform as well as an i7 and will use more power generating more heat. In any case, you need to get the best hardware you can for the programs you plan to use. Lastly, the most important piece of kit is the power supply. Buy a good one.

I live in Serbia and have a budget of 600-800 euros. That's a lot for our standard :D
I know the i7 is a beast, but again - I don't have the budget for it, since I start from scratch.

I also forgot to mention that I currently have 1680x1050 22" Asus, but will upgrde to 1080p max (24") soon. So no 4k res needed etc.. But I will have soon 2-3 monitors, so .. yeah :)

I was told i5 was best bang for my buck. I never OCed before, don't know if I ever will TBH.

I made a build. What do you guys think? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/sMKqZL

I can make a few tweaks here and there, but not on everything, as that would skyrocket the price for my budget.

Maybe suggest some changes so that over time I can upgrade easily to a beast of a PC.. Or do people do that still because new parts come out and they just buy a new PC ?
