Amd phenom II x4 and am3+ socket. Match or no?

Hello i have the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition and my current motherboard has been passed away. I had the asus m3a32 deluxe which served me well for years. Now i have to replace it with another budget one! the problem is that the previous mobo was a am2+ so i cant find any of those. Will an am3 or am3+ serve my purpose? For instance will the Asus M5A78L/USB3 match my phenom cpu?
If u have any other budget mobos in mind plz feel free to suggest me. Thanks!

Yes they are compatible, your CPU run on any AM3 or AM3+ mobo.

New mobo support only DDR3 https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LUSB3/specifications/

About Asus M5A78L/USB3 is solid mobo but do not have heatsink on VRM and becasue this you cannot OC it but is fine for stock speeds :)

My recommendations for Motherboard:
Cheapest option can work wit 6 cores CPU and even with some average OC
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($52.99 @ Amazon)
Can work wery well even with solid OC with 6 cores CPU
Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P ATX AM3+/AM3 Motherboard...

So i have to upgrade to ddr3 with the Asus am3+ M5A78L/USB3 mobo? I currently have ddr2.
