Hello.

After doing some researches I found out that while recording to an external hard drive will somehow improve a little bit the performance in-game, I believe the fps drop are less.

However, I've tried PlayClaw, Action! and D3DGear . I've tested it in Fallout 3 being the software Action! the one giving me less fps drop (from 90 to 59-64, PlayClaw almost the same and D3DGear drops from 90 to 49-59). While in certain areas all of three looks the same with about 30fps drops.

To be honest I didn't try to record to my primary HDD to see if affects much the performance, to see if I really am gaining some Fps while recording to external HDD.

Should I upgrade my external HDD or it is better to buy an external recorder (if it exists) since affording a new computer isn't an option by now.

Specs:
ASUS K55VJ
Intel i7 3630QM
Intel HD 4000
Nvidia GeForce 635M 2GB
6GB DDR3
HDD: Toshiba MQ01ABD050

External HDD: WDC WD32 00BEVT-22ZCT0
External Case: Mitsai GD25650 USB 3.0

Welcome to the community, Victor!

I'm sorry to hear about your gameplay recording issues with the WD Blue. :( However, I'm not sure that any external option would work properly for you. The internal SATA connection is a much better option when concerned about the transfer rate. Using a 3.0 USB connection isn't really a good option for gameplay recordings especially. I'd recommend you to consider attaching the WD Blue via SATA and give it a try then.
Though, you should keep in mind that the WD Blue is not really recommended for gaming as it's not a performance drive but an everyday-computing storage solution. ( Our gaming performance drive is the WD Black: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=ijd4tg ) Either way, I believe that...

P.S. I just saw in your specs that you're gaming from a laptop. Have you considered upgrading your primary HDD to an SSHD/SSD or putting a secondary HDD inside the optical (CD/DVD) bay?
Maybe you should also check out WD Blue SSHD and the WD Black 2 dual drive.

WD Black 2 Dual Drive: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=5yyMEO
Both of them are designed for boosting the performance and computing experience in notebooks & laptops.

Otherwise, I'm not sure how you'd be able to get much of the FPS increases through the USB 3.0 hub.

Keep me posted! Hope this was helpful!:)
