So i bought a ssd and was wondering if I were to do a clean install of windows 8 on the sdd is there anyway I can still use the files and programs on the old hdd?
Most programs will not work, cause a lot of programs have files and depencies installed into the 'active' OS windows folder and registry, its a gamble, may work or not. Loose files like notes, pics, music and stand-alone executables wont have any problems.
So how would I go about being able to still use my programs without having to gamble?
You could actually migrate your whole OS installation into the new SSD, however it wont be a clean install, and I get the feeling. Neverthless, either you just reinstall the programs to make sure they will work nicely and as intented... But otherwisely, I don't know how could you simply copy paste your programs folders, and have to work nicely as if they were fresh new.
