Can't connect desktop internet by ethernet.

Hey I can't connect my desktop to my internet by an ethernet cable. I am sure the problem is my desktop in some way because if I plug the cable into my two laptops it works fine. I am not sure if it's the fact that my computer is running on windows 8.1 or if it's my Asus PCE-AC68 wireless network adapter that might be causing issues.

no you need the one for your specific ethernet controller

under device manager when I click on the ethernet controller. It opens the ethernet controller properties but it says nothing is installed.

I built this probably close to 2 years ago, but I never tried using a wired connection on it, until now. I have always used wireless, which still works but I would like a more stable connection

chances are then you didnt install the ethernet driver when you built it
