I'm currently running a VERY VERY VERY HUGE PILE OF * Pc. It's just an old pc until I upgrade to this (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/c3RKt6)
As of right now, on my * pc, I'm running a Intel Core 2 Duo 3Ghz with an EVGA 8800Gts 324mb VRAM. And I started out with 6GB of DDR2 Ram at 800mhz. Yes. DDR2. This pc is from the stone age lol. But I'm having a problem I didn't normally have. For starters, my RAM Kind of just Died after a while lol and I'm down to my last 2 gigs of Ram. A single 2gb stick of ram. I just got Google Fiber, which is Gigabit internet, and I get speeds of 900 up and 850 down. I have a question. While i'm on google Chrome, Sometimes I'll be watching a you tube video in the background (I can barely watch 720p anymore because of the amount of ram I have, if I play 720p, my computer gets so slow) and I'll be looking for pc parts. If I get too many tabs open, My internet just decides to Stop, and My "Network thingy" in the bottom right of the screen has a yellow triangle. It won't change until I click on it and Click on the yellow triangle to Troubleshoot. When I troubleshoot, it then completely disconnects and after a few seconds it reconnects, Just for me to do it all over again a few minutes later. My Motherboard has Gigabit internet (Not 100% positive but I'm pretty sure) [Motherboard- Asus P5N32-E SLI, which back in it's day, was King of Boards] I don't want to upgrade to a $4k build, and still have the problem. I've heard that Ethernet cables can effect speed, but I have CAT 5E which is the 2nd fastest next to CAT 6 ( that I know of)

So my question is, Does the amount of Ram I have effect my internet usage?
If I get more ram on my upcoming build, will it have a positive effect on my Internet (Multiple tabs open)

<Language, please>

Nope, it will not affect internet itself, since no local change on your rig will make your connection beter or more responsive, or faster. Aside for some special cases, for example, new modem, that MAY help a bit, or doing some tweaks as disabling nagle. But i'll not go into that.

Now more/faster ram will help you with your browser tabs, locally, as if would take a lot of time to just open the new tab window, or a lot of time to open up the browser itself, since every open program you use is actually loaded into RAM, it will be faster in both cases, thats what you get of an improvement if you upgrade it. Now in the other hand, if your tabs are open and its taking a while to load the page, or a vid, or even returning with cannot load page erros, wont do. Also, it wont affect the download speed at all. what you've stated seems more like an internet/ISP/network whatever else issue and RAM wont help with it,
