So I recently bought an external powerbutton for my computer because (as I thought) my case's power button was broken. (Reset doesn't work either). Now that I see that it isn't working with this external button I think that my motherboard is broken in that area. I am not sure and I do not know how to be sure. What can I do?!?! I really don't want to have to replace the motherboard. This is really annoying because every time I have to turn on my computer I need to open the computer's case.

There is a button on the motherboard for turning the power on and resetting (ASRock z87 Extreme 4)
I am planning on shorting the power pins to test it out soon.
I don't want to have to open my case every time to turn it on though.
