Hi, i have a Lenovo yoga 300, a relatively new 2-in-1 laptop, and i wonder, would an SSD be compatible and also beneficial to it? Planning to get one with a 120gb+ storage, and maybe max the ram at 8gb. My priority is to increase the speed of running the programs, 'cuz most of my stuff are stored in the cloud anyway. Here are the current specs:

Processor
Intel Pentium N3540 processor( 2.16GHz 1333MHz 2MB)

Operating system
Windows 10 Home 64

Display type
11.6" HD Glossy Multi-touch with integrated camera 1366x768

System Graphics
Intel HD Graphics

Total memory
4.0GB PC3-10600 DDR3L 1333 MHz

Hard drive device
500GB 5400 rpm

Battery
2 Cell Li-Polymer

Solution
Hey there, 13links.

You should have no trouble getting a 512GB SSD (or less) for that laptop model. However, I'd suggest that you get in touch with the laptop manufacturer's customer support to ask if there are any compatibility issues with any of the SSDs out there, so that you don't end up with something you can't use. Performance wise, you'll see a great deal of improvement. The SSDs have ~100 times faster access time than an HDD and have a lot higher read/write speeds. So this would definitely help to speed up your OS and programs having in mind you'd be replacing a 5400RPM drive.

Hope that helps.

Dear all,

I have similar the same question but with an other hardware base.

Processor
Intel Pentium N2980 processor( 2.16GHz 1333MHz 2MB)

Operating system
Windows 8.1

Display type
11.6" HD Glossy Multi-touch with integrated camera 1366x768

System Graphics
Intel HD Graphics

Total memory
4.0GB PC3-10600 DDR3L 1333 MHz

Hard drive device
32 GB emmc

Battery
2 Cell Li-Polymer

Is this also possible to upgrade the hard disk to an SSD drive?

Thanks a lot for an feedback

Hey there, merlin-007.

Would you please let me know what's the device you are referring to and its model? Basically eMMC is used for portable devices such as phones or tablets (and notebooks in some cases). If your device doesn't have a SATA port or an M.2 slot, chances are that you might not be able to get an SSD. :(
I'll try to find out more about your question as soon as you post the information I've mentioned.

Cheers!

Well from what I see there's the option for a "1TB HDD or up to 500GB SSHD", so there should be a SATA port available and if this is the case you should be able to get an SSD for it. However, I'd strongly recommend that you contact the manufacturer's customer support and ask if they can confirm that and also inquire about what's the maximum capacity SSD that it supports.
