Hello,
I want to match a DELL 760 DT with a Nvidia GT 730, 384 1gb DDR5 version (low profile/single slot) as a light gaming and media solution for a home system used by my family and me.
Usually I play old strategy games like Total War series until Shogun 2 and mainly games until 2013/14.
The problem that made me post this is about the power usage of the GT 730 and/or compatibility with the Dell Optiplex 760 DT version.
I know from reading the specs of the DELL System that the PCI slot only give a maximum of 25 watts of power, which is needed by the GT 730 from the specs, as minimum, specified on Nvidia's specs sheet for the video card.
I have the following questions based on the situation at hand:
1. Reading the specs will the computer start/POST. (Compatibility)
2. What are usually the problems of using new hardware with OEM Systems. (Compatibility)
3. If I use the video card for more demanding apps (light gaming, gaming) will it work. (Power usage)
4. Suggestions/Solutions from past experiences for my situation, if available.
The situation at hand: I know the DELL is not used for gaming and also the video card is not recommended for gaming or even light gaming, but for my needs is enough. I read on other forums about this situation and the majority of sites and forums recommend the 750/ 750 TI as a solutions for gaming, for which I don't have a budget.
Thank you for your time.
PS: Grammar and spelling feedback are a welcome.
