I am trying to install drivers for my old LGE U8xx series onto my computer to recover some old photos but I am unable to do so as there is no active driver for windows 7. The latest release was for Xp and I have no idea how to get this phone to get Win7 to recognize it.

What are my options here? I need to get this hooked up so I can recover my old photos. Do I need to purchase another computer and install XP?

HELP!

Does the XP driver work? Have you tried it? (If it'S Win7 32bit it might work.. if it'S 64bit Win7 it's unlikely as you would need a 64bit driver.. if there is a 64bit XP driver, you could try that.

Your right, it's a 32x driver and there is no 64 bit driver available for my device.

What are my options? Do I need to install xp on a fresh hdd and connect that way? I can't See any other option.

With some 32bit apps, you may not have another choice.

I just bought a couple of 80G sata drives from eBay, brand new, to run some tests, $12bux each.

U can try to run a 32bit VM under your current 64bit Windows, but it's not guaranteed to work. VirtualBox is free.

Okay, what would be the easiest way of doing this?

I can buy a spare 80GB hdd if need be. So I just remove my HDD from my laptop, hook up the spare HDD and try to boot XP through my installer CD? once its all installed then I can hook up my phone, copy the data, and then remove the xp hdd and install my current hdd and everything will be back to normal?

Any chance of ruining my already installed HDD by doing this?

Please let me know urgently if possible as I would like to get started on this ASAP

I'll tell you a very simple way.
1- Download a program that makes virtual machines on windows (VMware workstation or Virtual Box).
2- Create a new machine with a virtual HDD (~20GB of disk space would be enough) and install windows XP on it.
3- Connect your phone through USB, then after it is recognized by your windows, you can connect it to the guest OS (the virtual one) from the program (VMware for example).
4- Install your driver and copy your data.
5- Profit
If you need further assistance with the process, tell me

do you have any suggestions for the above?

thanks, once again

Double-posting not cool dude.

OH YOU HAVE A LAPTOP! In that case I wouldn't feel like taking it apart so go the VirtualBox route, is free, and if it doesn't work, you simply remove it, easy-peasy.

It's very straightforward to install, and if you are as IT savvy as you say, it should be zero problem. The major steps are:

1. Install virtualBox, take all default will work just fine. Create a small Virtual Shared Folder to pass stuff back and forth between guest and host.
2. You must provide a BOOTABLE ISO of your 32 bit OS.
3. Once the guest (32 bit OS) is installed and running, you want to go VirtualBox's menu: Device -> Install Guest Additions.
4. Now install the 32 bit drive that is require to access ur phone.

Have fun!
