29" Curved Ultrawide or a 34" Inch Flat Ultrawide

I'm trying to decide between getting the Samsung 29" Curved Ultra-wide monitor and the LG 34" Flat Ultra-wide monitor.

I can get both for about the same price, and it is really a size vs curve debate at this point.

What do you think?

Usually (if not all), the 29" ultra-wide has a vertical screen size equivalent to a 23" monitor; while the 34" ultra-wide would be like a 27" monitor in height.

I think your decision would also consider how far you will be from the screen. If maybe just [strike]1'[/strike] 1m away (like directly in front of your desk) then the 29" would be okay. If a little bit further then the 34" would not be too much as to cause eyestrain/neckstrain. Just an opinion... as I have a 29" ultra-widescreen and a 27" (regular) widescreen, both about [strike]1'[/strike] 1m away from where I sit. The 27" is hard too view from that vantage point without moving my entire head in the process (what more if it's sides are extended like the 34" ultrawide).

Thanks for the response, but I'm really looking for an Ultra-wide (21:9 aspect ratio). I want to have more horizontal real estate for productivity and gaming (the ones that support it) without a multi-monitor setup.

I am assuming that by 1' you mean 1 meter and not 1 foot. With that assumption in mind:

To summarize, if I am 1' or closer, the 29" monitor would be fine (potentially too much, but any further and I would want to consider the 34"?

Ah, yes, sorry for that typo on that english-metric... I meant 1m (which is about ~3' / 3 FEET). I'll edit the previous post.

Anyway, your summary is correct regarding my personal experience on the size of the monitors in consideration:

1 Meter (~3 ft.) or closer --> 29" would be fine.
Viewed from 3 Meters (~10 ft.), since I have a couch at that distance, the 29" (21:9) ultrawide screen now looks small (esp. vertically) compared to my current 27" (16:9) widescreen.
