Skylake Motherboard RAM compatibility check

I am looking to buy the Asrock Z170 Extreme 6+ motherboard and I don't know if my RAM choice is compatible with the board (it is not listed on the Asrock website and the speed of the ram is 3000mhz CL15). The RAM in question is Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8gb 3000 mhz CL15 (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15). The Asrock board seems to support 2933mhz and higher RAM clocks but not 3000mhz. The RAM would downclock itself to 2933mhz (with XMP enabled) or will it run at 3000mhz?

Don't see why it would give problems.Just set XMP to enabled and see what it does.
  2. I intend to buy the hardware, I don't have it yet. Just wanted to make sure it would run at 3000mhz.
  3. I know. ;)
  4. Should be fine. They show support up through 3866+
  5. I have this combo, as of BIOS 1.20 it will not boot with xmp enabled. I had to back it down to 2800 to get it to even post. Hopefully in a BIOS upgrade this will be fixed as I know they are still working out the kinks.

    ________

You could try XMP and set DRAM voltage up + 0.05
