Hi everyone,

I will provide as much detail as possible, but I will give a shorter version at the end of this post.

I've been browsing this forum for a while and have seen very promising and professional help, so I've turned to this forum seeking for some help with regards to my Graphics drivers which have been frustrating me endlessly for the past week. If anyone can solve my problem I will be extremely grateful as I am terrible and get a bit edgy when fiddling around with these things.

I run an ASUS N550LF Notebook with Windows 10 installed on it. The two Graphics Cards present are the default Intel HD Graphics Family, and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 745M. From day one, both cards gave me trouble when updating Windows, due to some clash, thus forcing me to reformat my notebook on the first day. Ever since then, I had little trouble with the drivers. NVIDIA was my default driver for most things, mainly games, and the GeForce Experience tool as well as the NVIDIA Control Panel worked perfectly.

I recently updated to Windows 10 this summer with no problem at all. However, last week, I noticed there was an NVIDIA Update so I went for it. This is the version 355.82. I always install my NVIDIA drivers through the GeForce Experience - a simple Express Installation. Usual procedure, it then led me to restart my notebook. However upon opening GeForce Experience after the restart, it told me that there was a new update, which was the SAME update (355.82). Tried again, and same result. This lead me to believe that the Driver was not installing correctly, so I headed over to Device Manager and found the yellow triangle next to my NVIDIA Driver claiming the Driver was not working properly due to Code 43.

And this is where my problems started.

I sought help and was told to download and run DDU, Display Driver Uninstaller. So I did that, went into Safe Mode, and uninstalled my NVIDIA from there. However, upon rebooting, I checked out my Device Manager - and there NVIDIA Driver wasn't there, only my Intel HD was present.

I was then told to update my Intel HD to the latest driver, and after that, NVIDIA Driver showed up again, and GeForce Experience was up and running; however, I still faced my old problem of version 355.82. I then repeated the same DDU procedure NOT in Safe Mode, and yet again, NVIDIA has disappeared off my Device Manager.

Now, I'm trying to update my Intel HD, yet NVIDIA is not showing up. What is even scarier is that my Intel HD is now ALSO facing the same problem as my NVIDIA - the latest update is failing to install.

I have not attempted things like uninstalling/disabling my Intel HD (I'm afraid it will suffer the same fate as my NVIDIA), System Restore, Reformat, or BIOS Updating. I do not want to fiddle around with the BIOS without proper instructions.

[TL;DR]:

  • NVIDIA would not update due to Code 43
Uninstalled it via DDU, and now doesn't show up in Device Manager
Updated Intel HD to latest version, NVIDIA showed up again however with the same problem as before
Uninstalled again via DDU not in Safe Mode
    NVIDIA is missing again
Updating Intel HD no longer brings up NVIDIA, as now Intel HD also refuses to update to the latest version.

Just a heads up, I cannot reinstall my NVIDIA Driver since Windows is not detecting it.
I hope this was enough information and please do not hesitate to ask for extra specifications or screenshots.

Thank you for reading and have a good day!
