I just built my pc and only the old psu was not substituted. I got the new i7 6700k cpu with msi m5 motherboard ddr4 ram etc.. And the 5th time I build a pc.. I've double checked everything every connection removed cmos but I keep getting an error 36 which is for cpu initialization.. I'm guessing the psu which is the only old part from the pc.. But I'm not sure.. Help? I've tried everything..

  1. If you are using a crappy PSU with a new PC generally speaking that is a bad idea (but yea, I've done it too ;) )

Make sure the CPU heatsink is plugged into the CPU fan port and report back.
  2. The psu is crappy but it was working 3 months ago I came back from holiday installed new components and get this error is so depressing thanks for trying to help! The cooler is new it's the cooler Master seivon and It is working I mean the fan is spinning..
  3. You have the CPU power plug plugged in from the PSU as well? If that was missing it could cause that error. As well did you very carefully install the processor? A bent pin could cause this issue.
  4. Again, please make sure the CPU fan is plugged into the motherboard CPU fan port. If you just plug the CPU fan directly into the PSU yes the fan will spin but the motherboard will give an error as a safety precaution and probably shut down.
  5. No bent pins.. Power connector is on close to the cpu and the big one too
  6. Thanks adroid I will have a look and post back to you tomorrow
  7. Please list the FULL specs of the system.
  8. The problem was the Psu! Bought a new one and problem sorted. Thanks guys
  9. I figured as much. What is the new unit?
  10. new unit is a corsair cx750!
  11. Oh god. That PSU is junk. I would return it and buy a quality unit.
