Yesterday I noticed that my OS "XP SP3 - 32bit" reads only 2GBs of 4GBs of RAMs, RAMs were working fine and read 3-something GBs till last 2 or 3 weeks. I checked BIOS and it did read only 2014 MBs, I checked the system properties and it did nearly read 2 GBs although it always used to read 3-something GBs last few weeks, I installed CPU-Z and it did read 2048 MBs of RAMs although it used to read 3-something GBs of RAMs before.

what's the solution?

Could you tell me why it died? What reasons might make it die?
Sorry for my stupid question but I need an answer to it, thanks in advance.

static, water, a short. Lots of factors could cause memory failure, Most likely it just died from old age, or it could be something simple like its soldering came undone.
Normally with one died ram stick the entire computer wouldn't boot so from what it seems itcould be that the ram socket on the motherboard is broken, or the ram just is not registering.
