yet I've run into an issue my pc randomly shuts down no error just off, ive checked the psu voltages and the 5 volt is around 4.9-5.3 the 12v is around 11.8-12.2 and my temps are all good my graphics card is at most 70 Celsius (the hd 4870 is infamous for overheating so these temps are amazing on a 6 year old card) the cpu is always 60 and below (60 under load 30-40 idle depending on how many background tasks I have) I am getting a new graphics card from my friend he has the gtx 260 so that may solve the problem but I still want to find the issue because I'm building my little brother a pc for Christmas (he's 7 so ill have to help him a lot but he's been wanting to play modded Minecraft but our asus desktop isn't enough) and I cant give him a broken card and until I get a job I wont be able to afford a graphics card until this summer. (I've been looking at a gtx x or a gtx 970 I'm debating) One of my friends proposed that windows 10 may be causing my driver to bug out and cause the card to shutdown to prevent damage. So my question is, is my card failing causing it to pull too much power than my psu can support (1000 watt six year old psu I take care of often I clean my whole pc once a month because it is old and this is probably extending the life a ton) or should I downgrade to windows 7 (the errors occurred a little in windows 8.1 none in 8 though I got mostly a driver stopped responding bluescreen windows 10 had the bluescreen twice but not since now just the shutdowns.

Edit: forgot to add that this happens the most often when playing physics engines (Beamng) or games that have high graphics settings (couldn't get passed the first door in dead island though it runs at 200 fps up until the crash I'm surprised my card could even run it honestly) so yah whenever under load it happens most often.

ill be getting a gtx960 for christmas, its just that feels forever away, anyway its just unsettling how it just turns off no blue screen no anything. though i would not be suprised if the car is failing. i got this pc for free from a friends mom who managed to break it. What was broken you may ask, well it was the graphics card.... it was clogged with so much cat hair it would auto shut off after a minute. After this christmas ill report back if the new card fixed it or not. Thanks again for the help.
