Ok so i was overclocking my fx 8320 to 4.2ghz, voltage at 1.38, i was running prime95 and everything was stable until the 24 minute mark where my cpu temperature spiked from 40 to 206 max were i quickly turned prime95 off. The thing is a couple weeks ago my parts got fried in the same way but because i was not in the room to turn prime off mobo and cpu fried. So what could be up with the spikes?

I would not think hitting 206C would be possible at least not if it survived. It should have instantly combusted at that temp. It's possible that the software you are using to monitor your temperatures flaked out momentarily.

Do you have an aftermarket cooler? How quickly did it hit 206 from 40? Was it instantly? Like the software was displaying 40 and the next update it was 206? If it was like this, then I would say it was a false read. If it climbed up over say 10 - 20 seconds, then I'd be more apt to accept that something untoward was going on.

well im typing this on the pc :p and yes the temps went up like out of no where so im agreeing that is was a prime95 problem, do u have any other programs that i can use to replace prime?

Prime is pretty good, but it has it's limitation. Have a look at Realbench from ASUS. It's a more realistic workload. I think it will run on even non ASUS hardware, though I can't be certain since I have an ASUS motherboard.

There is also Linpack and IBT (Intel Burn Test), OCCT too. These are more like Prime 95 though. They are a very narrow stress test. You could also try Cinebench, though it's more of a benchmark than a stress test.

One random read of 206 during a test shouldn't be too concerning. As long as you have observed that it's just a random event and it comes right back down to the original temp.

By the way, what are using to monitor your temps? Could be more a problem with your monitoring software rather than the stress test.

the thing is the 206 was the max and it went down to like 190 something was up there untill i turned prime off and i was using hwmonitor

I would try another monitoring software just to get a second opinion if you will.

I use HWInfo and like it. Also Speccy is pretty good and simple. Speedfan might also be one to try, though I've found it to be a bit flakey.

P.S. If you go this route, be sure not to run more than one of these at a time. They will interfere with each other and cause even more erroneous readings.
