How to properly setup a Wi-Fi extender to be able to access it later

My internet setup at home consits of a normal Thomson (TG789vn) router and a new AP/repeater. Now I managed to connect it using the bridge (and later repeater) mode, but I can't access or find the management page in order to edit settings. When I follow the instructions in order to connect it to the main router the last step is to save & reboot the extender. Even though the connection works and I am able to surf the web, I can't access the management page of the extender using the IP anymore. DHCP is enabled on both devices, but I gave everything a static IP.

Any ideas?

Before configuring the extender, you were connecting to it by using 192.168.0.1, correct? I believe after configuring it your router assigned it some IP address, so have you tried using that new IP address?

My step-by-step procedure was like this:
- Plugged the extender in a power source (without anything connected to it, such as the RJ-45 cable).
- Connected my PC to the extender using wifi.
- Went to 192.168.10.2xx in my browser and logged in.
From there I was able to connect the extender, using its config page, to the main router.
I later checked the box to set a static ip on the extender on 192.168.2.2xx (main router), but I wasn't able to manually set the IP and there is no option to disable DHCP.
- After connecting the extender and let it reboot, I was unable to display the config page of the extender. The wifi connection worked though.
