I have a Z87-G41 PC Mate motherboard I bought refurbished. I just set it up in a build and installed Windows 7 onto it. I noticed that when installing Windows 7 & Post Install that it would hang up when it is trying to reboot. It doesn't shut down during the reboot cycle, instead it stays powered on after the monitor stops receiving signal. During the install at the parts where it will say windows will reboot itself to continue the installation it hangs up.

Everything else seems to be working fine at the moment. And it will shut down, through the OS if shut down is selected. I rechecked the wiring from the PSU and all appears to be hooked up correctly.

I am really just wondering if there anything common that comes to mind. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the mother board given the price I paid for it but im not ready to jump to conclusions yet. I haven't done a BIOS update or anything but I also haven't found any records of a problem like this.

I found the solution. I bought an Intel i7 4790K which I thought was old technology but apparently this generation was made after Z87 or atleast after this motherboard was manufactured. I flashed the bios to the most reset one made available which adds support for generation "X" intel processors. After doing so, it now reboots fine from the bios, when hitting restart with windows, etc. Its been very reliable since the update. No more blue screening.
