I'm slowly buying parts for a new build with each paycheck. But I'm still hesitant on how powerful a psu I need. I've used various online calculators, and looked at part specs and did on pen and paper. But I've gotten answers anywhere from 550 to 750 to 850.

Here is my build:
MB: ROG Crosshair V Formula Z
CPU: FX 8350 with a 212 Evo cooler
RAM: 8GBx2 Trident X
GPU: ASUS Raedon r9 390x
will also have a 2TB harddrive
Areocool Touch 2100 fan controller
Blu-ray burner
Card Reader
K70 RGB Corsair Keyboard
Logitech G502 Proteus mouse

I want to be sure to have enough power for possible upgrade and perhaps crossfire in the future.

You can probably get away with a lower wattage quality supply but if you eventually want to crossfire/sli I would recomend an 850 watt from the tier 1 or 2 list in the link. You can of course go for a higher wattage if you preffer. A quality t1 should have no issue with your future crossfire. Of course a shitty 1000watt would power it also but never skrimp on the psu it is the heart of the system a bad one can kill the whole thing.

A rig built around an R9 390x would have a recommended good-quality PSU wattage of 700W. This already include some headroom for the other components powered by that PSU.

For CrossFire setup, it is recommended to have 1000W.
